Colorado Springs and Surrounding Area

Colorado Springs is just 65 miles from Hartsel and has numerous sights to offer.

Majestic Pikes Peak - the inspiration for the song “America The Beautiful” - towers over the Colorado Springs area. In the summer you can drive the famous Pikes Peak Highway or take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the top of this 14,110 foot summit and view the beauty of the world as Katherine Bates did.

The  United States Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs and offers a visitor center and tours of the famous chapel.

Visit the historic towns of Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs and enjoy shopping in many boutiques and specialty shops, dining in quaint family restaurants or just strolling the beautiful tree lined streets of  these charming Colorado towns.

Just outside of Manitou Springs are many other interesting things to see including the Cave of the Winds, The Cliff Dwelling Museum, Seven Falls, and The North Pole.

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Train

Towering 1,053 feet above the river you can walk across the world’s highest suspension bridge, or you can ride the scenic train through the Gorge and see the bridge from below. For a bit more of an adventure, take a helicopter tour or a wild ride on the rapids of the Arkansas River (see our Rafting Page). It’s all just a short trip from Hartsel.
